  • Hello Diem,

    1) Which texts do you mean? Coupon code or texts in the print layout?

    2) For now you can only invalidate coupons, anyway we will provide in the future version a way to archive coupons. We are still deciding if we are going to allow the complete delete of a coupon, in any case it would only be available for "unused" coupons.

    Thank you for your feedback

    Hi.
    Just amazing :) - as usual- :)

My only problem is that when I try to login with coupon, only a dark bar apears, I can't introduce the code anywhere...double checked the settings, seems ok.

  • Sessions Time Out.
    Ok, I understand it's a tricky one....
But the biggest final end customers complaints ( with the until now login methods ) is the need to re-login even before the time out session happens. With coupons it's happening the same.
Just tested, issued a coupon for 7 days....used it yesterday, this morning ( keep in mind that auto-reboot happens in my access points ) I was asked to login again.

I totally dig why this happens...a reboot clears sessions, an ISP refresh might lead to this also.

But I forecast this is going to be an issue for Hotels ( again ).

  • Hello Joao,
you are right, this can be a problem in some contexts.

We are aware of this problem and soon we will add a way for "remembering" users, but it will introduce some complexity in all the use cases so we are trying to find a solution that works best for all logins method (social, non social, coupons).

But with coupons a session time out should not be seen as a bad thing, because if you enable the "Stop and resume" coupon feature it allows user to use parts of quota of the coupon over time, instead of consuming it all in once ;)

Obviously different use cases need different parameters, adding a "remember me" function and allowing user to choose also the "idle timeout" in time of coupon creation could help a lot.

Last thing, please consider that even if you issued a coupon of 7 days, regardless of the fact that ap reboots or ISP refreshs, once the user gets away from the ap for more than a specific amount of time he will be logged out, so the "remember me" function at the end will just do a silent login (probably just matching its mac address).

    Thanks for your feedbacks ;)

    Hi Master Cristian
The "remembering" function would be just perfect, though I totally understand what that would demand from architecture and resources.

The stop and resume logic would be perfect, but the reality with final end customers in Hotels is a totally different thing - I used to use it like this with Zyxel N4100 controllers and it was a "mess" :( - They expect a simple WPA password or if having to log from a splash, just do it once while their voucher is available. In fact Hotel Owners also tend to emit vouchers for the staying time per customer. Trust me, this is a breaking commercial point with Hotels.
So, remembering a mac address...and silent loggin it...would be MECA for this guys :)

    Hello Joao,
we understand that need, don't worry we will add this feature ;)

Actually it's not just a problem of architecture and resources, but if we do a silent login every time a user connects to the network (recognizing a previous login of that mac address), we have the following issues:

    1) security problem due to mac spoofing
    2) every time the user connects to the network he is automatically logged in, in some cases this brings to some problems, he can never switch login method, or coupon or social network unless his authentication method brings to an expiration (coupon expired).

So if someone uses your laptop to login with a social network, from that moment your mac address is something like "binded" with the identity of who did the first login,
unless we introduce a kind of welcome back page to allow user to proceed or log off completely... something like "Hello Cristian, click here to reconnect automatically, or logout". But if we want to do this approach then we force the user to open a browser to reconnect, and this is also not a good user experience.

We are trying to find a solution to solve all these problems and still maintain a good user experience.

Any suggestion on this would be very appreciated ;)

  • Hi...
Ok, i totally dig that. But now for some reality ;) - believe me...it's field experience ( and we are talking about hotels)

    Answering your good points:

    2) - An Hotel Guest only wants to be able to get to the Hotel, log once and be logged for his staying. Time outs often generates "noise" like " I did not get my whatsapp notifications..." " I have always to be clicking this and that".... - one of the reasons hotel owners here are ditching social stats and device info retention and choosing a plain WPA security SSID (what makes me sad ).

Restaurants, Nightclubs and public places this is perfect!...but Hotels...well...

Your last paragraph: In hotels, rarely a person shares a device with other people. More rarely yet they use laptops. Ok, in a few business hotels people want to work on the bedroom for hours or days. In those cases, coupons (with the remember me feature) would be perfect. Presently for WiFi in room regarding this kind of guests we are deploying personalized SSID's on request. Like MrSmithWiFi SSID and with a WPA. We added some "magic" to this providing a QR Code on the room keycard (printed by the receptionist).

I believe you ;) , we will take in consideration all these suggestions.

In the hotel use case I completely agree with you that the 2) is not a problem at all.

I think that with the roaming feature (soon to be released) and the remember me feature (that can be enabled/disabled ) we will solve all this problems and allow you to give your customers the perfect (I hope) user experience for all these scenarios.

Nice solution the QR code ...

Just tried Vouchers for the first time at our Holiday Park, as we busy and needed to restrict access, rather than just offer social login.

Seems to work, so far :-)

Feature suggestion that my client came up with..

Would it be possible to have Vouchers that last for say 7 days, but are limited to a number of hours each day? For instance valid for 7 days, 2 hours access per day.

Anyway keep up the good work and loving the new Splash Page Designer

    Hello Mark,
the feature you are asking for is more a kind of subscription based voucher then a coupon as it is intended now, for now it is not possible to create such coupons.

Anyway we appreciate your suggestion, and we are already analyzing new scenarios and features for the coupon system, so please keep sending your ideas to us.

    Thank you
